The Burden City Council met March 24, 2025, and approved a set of routine actions, including meeting minutes, payment of bills, and community sponsorships, and also voted to raise City Hall rental fees.
Council Member Chris Cannon moved to approve the regular meeting minutes; Chase Hobart seconded and the motion carried 3-0. The council then reviewed financial statements and voted to pay the bills, again approving the action 3-0. During public comment, resident Norma Young requested an exclusion to allow roosters at 329 N Walnut; after she presented a neighbor-signed letter saying the sound does not bother them, the council voted 3-0 to allow two roosters at that address and agreed to revisit the decision if a complaint is received.
Carleta Bolack moved to sponsor the Burden 4-H Boosters Livestock Premium Sale for $50, and the council approved the sponsorship 3-0. The council likewise approved a $50 sponsorship for the Annual Easter Egg Hunt.
On facilities fees, Council Member Chase Hobart moved to increase City Hall rental fees to $50 for individuals and $75 for businesses; the motion passed 3-0. Other administrative items reported included insurance renewal details and quotes for City Hall flooring and repairs; those matters were discussed but did not produce additional formal votes at the meeting.
The meeting adjourned at 7:39 PM. The council’s next regular meeting is scheduled for April 28, 2025, at 6:00 PM.
