City Manager Amber Vogin used her report to highlight the city’s Sculpture on the Move program and to announce a utility service change.
Vogin said the Sculpture on the Move program brings new public art to Bonner Springs every other year; the city will replace the lighting piece at Kelly Murphy Park with a new sculpture (described in the packet) and install a new oak‑leaf sculpture on Oak Street. Vogin described the Kelly Murphy piece as three mushrooms called the “fungus of oneness” and noted photos were included in the meeting packet.
Vogin also told council that Lake Of The Forest is now connected to and served by Bonner Springs water, and that residents at that end of town are pleased with the change. She asked council to note the written update in the packet and to reach out to staff if they had questions.
Why it matters: public‑art rotations shape public space and Lake Of The Forest’s connection to city water affects local utility service and residents’ access to potable water.
What’s next: staff will proceed with Sculpture on the Move installations per the schedule in the packet and continue to monitor the Lake Of The Forest connection.
