IV therapy task force to refine LPN regulations, update competency checklist and exam

Carol Moreland, the board’s executive administrator, updated the committee on the IV therapy task force’s work on LPN IV therapy regulation and training.
She said the task force—which includes IV therapy providers from both nursing programs and standalone practices—has identified several places in current regulations that need clarification and intends to add definitions. "We have some, IV therapy providers... They brought a bunch of questions and stuff that they wanted clarification on," Carol said. She told the committee she has not yet revised the regulations but will bring proposed regulatory language and definitions in December. The task force will then move to update the competency checklist and substantially revise the exam.
The committee accepted the task force plan and asked staff to include the materials in the December packet for review.
