Kari Chambers moved (seconded by Seth Born) to accept a $500 donation from Tank Connection to be placed in the student fund; the motion passed 7-0. Chambers then moved (seconded by Seth Born) to accept a $680 donation from Tammy Hennigh and Jason Venneman for new middle-school girls’ basketball jerseys; the motion passed 7-0.
Under motives relating to personnel and per Kansas statute 75-4319 the board moved into executive session with the superintendent, Renee Gillard and Jolene Hall until 8:15 p.m. to discuss non-elected personnel matters including employee performance and evaluation; the motion passed 7-0. The board returned to open session at 8:28 p.m.
After the session Josh Baker moved (seconded by Seth Born) to hire Kenna Doherty as a St. Paul paraprofessional and assistant St. Paul high-school girls’ basketball coach; Kelli Bentley as assistant Chetopa middle-school girls’ basketball coach; and Trey Peters as St. Paul middle-school boys assistant basketball coach. The motion passed 7-0.
Seth Born moved (seconded by Kari Chambers) to accept resignations from Mark Haight (St. Paul high-school volleyball) and Ashley Little (St. Paul assistant high-school volleyball). That motion also passed 7-0.
The board later moved into a second executive session under Kansas statute 75-4319, joined by the superintendent, Mrs. Hall, Mrs. Gillard and Terri Ross to discuss teacher negotiations until 8:50 p.m. The meeting resumed at 8:50 p.m. with no action taken on negotiations. The board adjourned at 8:52 p.m. on a motion by Seth Born, seconded by Josh Baker (passed 7-0).
