Board accepts CDL thermostat bid, reviews roof and other facility needs; adopts KESA 2.0 action plan

Craig Bagshaw, superintendent, told the board the district has multiple facility issues and related bids. He reported a roof bid in the Dropbox for $194,000 and that Continental Restoration provided a quote to cover Woodaire’s exterior. He said the Chetopa library has experienced recurring leaks and that gas lines for middle-school heaters in St. Paul are done.
Bagshaw also said the St. Paul computer system that runs thermostats is not working and that CDL submitted a bid to replace the thermostats for $17,185. A playground fence was estimated at $5,450. He reported Tank Connection donated $500 to the students and that the district continues work to find a partner for Carl Perkins funding.
On motions later in the meeting the board accepted the KESA 2.0 Action Plan (motion by Seth Born, seconded by Josh Baker) and accepted the bid from CDL as presented (motion by Maggie Robison, seconded by Barbara Evans). Both motions passed 7-0.
Separately, during board matters the board passed a contingency motion that if Houston Roofing fails to honor its warranty by Nov. 30 the board will consider JR & Co's $194,049 roof replacement bid (motion by Kari Chambers, seconded by Seth Born; passed 7-0). That contingency establishes an alternative procurement step but does not itself award a contract.
The meeting record does not include contract award documents or a schedule for work on the roof, thermostat replacement, Woodaire exterior or playground fence. The board accepted the CDL bid as presented; follow-up procurement and scheduling details were not recorded in the minutes.
