Council President Kassie Gile was elected by her peers as council president at the Cheney City Council meeting on Dec. 10, 2025, after a motion from Councilmember Jeff Albers and a second from Councilmember Ryan Graf. On compensation, the council approved a 2% cost-of-living raise for city employees and allowed up to an additional 2% performance-based raise to be applied after evaluations. The council separately approved a 2% cost-of-living raise and a 2% performance-based raise for City Administrator Danielle Young. All personnel votes were unanimous.
The motions were procedural and did not include detailed public debate in the minutes. Councilmember Jeff Albers made the motions for the raises; Councilmember Greg Williams seconded the motion to apply the increases to administration and staff.
