Police chief: new dashcams, monthly reports to resume; training and code-enforcement updates

Chief Shannon Seals updated the Carbondale City Council on department operations and equipment at the Nov. 4 meeting.
Chief Seals said the department will begin providing monthly reports again in December, with counts of calls responded to, and that new dashcams are scheduled for installation on Nov. 13. She urged officers and staff to notify the council when attending elective training and described routine travel outside city limits for training, supplies and meetings.
Seals said one officer, Zayne, is undergoing a psychological evaluation as part of department processes. She also reported that code enforcement will work to ensure visible house numbers to aid emergency response and will monitor compliance with the trashcan ordinance. The chief said she is working to make connections and get knowledge "that is best for our City" and indicated she has no problem coming to council when needed.
