Panel hears upcoming regional events, CAPE portal uptake and Links to Quality progress

Megan Kluth (University of Kansas Center for Public Partnerships and Research) briefed the panel on regional outreach events for the All In for Kansas strategic plan, including Child Care Roundtables and PDG-funded care-and-wellness conferences in Garden City (May 6) and Hays (May 8) focused on early-childhood mental health and family voice. "These events are open to the public," Kluth said, and she asked panel members to share flyers and registration links.
Panel members highlighted bright spots and resources: Patty Peschel reported the CAPE portal soft launch has reached more than 5,200 portal profiles with participation from 103 of 105 counties; Bethany (Kansas Department for Children and Families) said Links to Quality will be included in CAPE phase 2 and that 170 programs are working through the Links process with five programs having completed the program-administration link. Brenda Bandy (Kansas Breastfeeding Coalition) announced a May 2 policy update and ongoing childcare-focused meetings.
The chair reminded members about application deadlines (panel applications close May 2), upcoming meetings (panel May 16; Children’s Cabinet Trust Fund June 6) and the work-group breakout schedule. Members were encouraged to use the portal and event flyers to promote inclusion and participation.
