Danvers trustees adopt Code of Conduct addendum and request town counsel meeting on indemnification

The Peabody Institute of Danvers Board of Library Trustees voted unanimously on May 20 to adopt a Code of Conduct addendum that edits the attendance provision to direct resignation notifications to the Town Clerk.
The change replaces language directing resignations to the "Appropriate Authority" with the Town Clerk. The amendment was proposed during discussion of attendance standards and was approved on a motion by Donna Hopkins, seconded by Kenneth Yoon Lee.
Separately, Director Noelle Boc reported she had met with Town Counsel Kate Connolly and asked that Connolly attend the June trustees meeting to discuss indemnification for board members. Trustee Michael Hagan said his experience on the Retirement Board — where he learned that members are indemnified — motivated the request that town committee members receive similar protections. Boc said Connolly would be asked to brief trustees at the June meeting so the board can better understand any legal protections or liabilities.
Trustees also agreed to move the November meeting from Nov. 11 (Veterans Day) to Nov. 18, 2026. With no further business, the board adjourned at 8:00 p.m.
