Caney council approves equipment repairs and purchases, reviews contracts and public-safety items

The Caney City Council recorded several finance and public-safety items in its Oct. 21 minutes, including approval of vehicle and equipment repairs, routine expenses, and contract updates.
On the consent agenda the council approved accounts payable and payroll lists and a range of vendor payments as recorded in the Oct. 21 minutes. Council also approved an item to pay Main Street Auto $2,884.00 for vehicle and ambulance work.
The council approved repair work on two fire pumpers: Pumper 152 for $17,915 and Pumper 151 for $13,399; the minutes state the payments will be made from a hail-damage insurance payment. The Oct. 7 minutes, included in the packet, show a prior action approving purchase of eight self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBAs) for the fire department for $59,221.80.
City Administrator Kelley Zellner reported a Waste Connections contract increase effective Dec. 1, 2024; she also reported a contract release from Timber Hill and noted retirement-planning steps. The council approved a contract extension for cemetery mowing with MTB Mowing (expires 2026) including a 30-day cancellation clause and declined to repair concrete steps at High Street pool, opting to tear down and clean up instead (prior Oct. 7 action recorded in the minutes).
The minutes also record that a Jag grant for radio scrambling was unavailable for Montgomery County and that the city will coordinate with the sheriff’s office to pursue other options.
The minutes show the council generally approved these routine and safety-related items without recorded opposition.
