He said the board had been paused previously and that reinstatement would formalize membership and appoint a chair; the commissioners voted to reinstate the advisory board.
On emergency response procurement, S9 (Cindy) said the county had paid a little over $14,000 a year for School Guard 911 since about 2014 but staff identified a lower-cost alternative that uses existing systems and costs roughly $30 annually. "So with this new thing, it not only alerts law enforcement and alerts all the EMS, all the fire in our county of a potential situation... it's really not costing us anything other than, like, $30 a year," she said. The board approved cancelling the School Guard 911 contract effective June 30 as requested.
Separately, S2 said county staff requested a disaster-emergency declaration to make state funds available after flooding; the board voted to adopt the emergency declaration. The declaration was approved by recorded voice vote during the meeting; the transcript records 'aye' votes but does not list a full named roll-call tally.
The reinstated ambulance advisory board will proceed to appoint members and select a chair, and staff will implement the School Guard change and pursue any state funding options enabled by the emergency declaration.
