Council approved a contract with Gillmore & Bell to perform the 2024 audit of the Caney Grocery Store and approved contracting Jerry Mitchell to audit store records for 2022 and 2023. Both audit motions were recorded as passing 5-0.
On zoning matters, the council voted 5-0 to return Ordinance 2024-07 — which would allow the Caney zoning ordinance to regulate tiny houses — to the zoning committee for further consideration. The council also discussed awarding two lots at 1201 and 1207 N. Wood to Dildine Real Estate for $3,496 with a proposed plan to erect six short-term-stay tiny homes; that award was likewise sent back to the zoning committee for review.
Valerie Dildine is listed in the minutes as present regarding the grocery-store and land-bank items and spoke as a local developer in the Oct. 7 minutes that the council included in its Oct. 21 packet. The minutes do not record final approval for the tiny-home development or a zoning change; they record only the referrals to the zoning committee.
