Commissioners approve Westgate water-tower EDA application and $24,000 engineering contract

Daviess County commissioners voted to be the applicant on an Economic Development Administration water-tower grant for the Westgate area and approved a $24,000 contract with Wessler for preliminary engineering services.

Greg (speaker S6), who said the Daviess County Redevelopment Commission approved the local match June 30, asked the board to designate a lead applicant representative and to authorize the county to hold the contract with the engineering firm. "Since the commissioners are the applicant, they will hold the contract with the engineering firm, Wessler," he said. The preliminary services include hydraulics and a preliminary engineering report.

Commissioners moved and approved both the application-authority designation and the Wessler contract during the same session. The contract cost for the preliminary services was stated as $24,000.

The project is intended to support growth in the Westgate area; the board did not set a construction schedule during the meeting. The next procedural step is for the county to complete the EDA application with the designated representative and for Wessler to begin preliminary engineering work under the contract.
