Commission approves loans, contracts and facility planning; rescinds hiring freeze

In administrative actions, the board voted to rescind a hiring freeze put in place in September and approved raising the county mileage reimbursement from $0.70 to $0.725 per mile effective Jan. 1, aligning the county rate to state policy.
The commission authorized multiple architect engagements: the county engineer was authorized to engage an architect for a proposed road‑department building, and the sheriff was authorized to engage architects to design a storage/mobile command facility and an additional storage building at the road department. Commissioners discussed site utilities, sewage and runoff planning before construction and asked that cost estimates be returned for future budget decisions.
Other approved items included a motion to dispose of an X‑ray machine (inventory #8625), authorization for a probation intern harmless‑hold‑harmless agreement, and several procurement and policy items (IT firewall subscription through OMNIA Partners, arena rental age restriction approval pending attorney review).
