County weighs Trane replacement, two maintenance packages and 24/7 BAS support for jail HVAC

Jason, a county facilities lead, told commissioners the county has an agreement with Trane to replace a jail HVAC unit and described two maintenance options offered by the vendor. He said the first option is a basic mechanical scheduled-service agreement (visual inspections and start/stop checks) and the second is a more comprehensive BAS/remote-monitoring package that would provide 24/7 remote help plus a bank of on-site support hours.
On costs, Jason told the board: "That is, $21,000 a year, $43,281 for the 2 years that we're asking for." He explained the BAS option includes 96 hours of field-support time per year and remote diagnostics that can reduce on-site troubleshooting and improve long-term uptime, while the basic package is mostly biannual inspections that do not include parts or broad remote support.
Commissioners asked staff to negotiate start dates, exact service inclusions and warranty terms, and to return recommended contractual language and budget implications to a future meeting. Jason also flagged that Trane would provide a local contact (named Logan) to improve communication and follow-up support.
