USD #286 board restores prior public-comment procedure after 4–3 vote

Board member Jonathan Cude moved to restore the prior procedure allowing guests to speak during public comments without requiring prior permission; Becky Smilko seconded. The motion passed 4–3. The minutes record Jaime Morris, Denise Signer and Michael Clark as the three dissenting votes. Under the restored procedure each guest is allotted three minutes to speak during the public-comment period.
The vote followed discussion during the board and administrative communications portion of the agenda; the minutes record no immediate public testimony on this motion. The board adjourned at 8:23 p.m.; the next regular meeting is Oct. 14, 2024.
