Town manager: cooling center activated during heat wave, propane exchange added, Wheelwright Tower options under study; fireworks canceled

Town Manager Michelle Leary used the June 30 Select Board meeting to provide operational updates and public-safety context ahead of summer weather and ongoing infrastructure work.
Leary thanked the Emergency Management Team, schools, police and fire departments for a recent simulated active shooter exercise. She warned of an upcoming heat wave and said that heat-prevention guidelines for outdoor town workers have been implemented and that Willcutt Commons will serve as a cooling center.
Leary announced a new propane exchange service at the RTF and provided an update on the Wheelwright Tower, saying the town is exploring alternatives including small cells, a new location and a line-of-sight study. She also thanked the town accountant for helping to close out the fiscal year books.
Finally, Leary confirmed the town will not host fireworks this year due to drought conditions, staff shortages and funding pressures and thanked triathlon participants who recently took part in a town event.
