Cohasset Select Board approves race, challenge and vigil permits, vendor license renewal and committee appointments

At its June 16 meeting the Cohasset Select Board approved several routine permits, a vendor license renewal, and new committee appointments.
The board granted an event permit and entertainment permit for the Cohasset Maritime Institute’s Minot’s Light Roundabout Race on Sept. 12, 2026, approved a rain date of Sept. 13, and approved event and parking permits for the Cape Cod Bay Challenge on Aug. 15. All related motions passed unanimously.
The board renewed a transient vendor license for Nona’s Ice Cream despite a Sandy Beach Association request to suspend vendors in its lot because of new piping plover nesting areas; the license was approved 4-0-1 and Select Member Gregory Watts was directed to work with Sandy Beach and vendors to seek workable solutions.
The Select Board issued an event permit and waived permit and entertainment fees for the Safe Harbor overdose-awareness vigil on Aug. 31, 2026.
On appointments and committee business, the board voted to expand the Public Safety Facilities Committee to nine members and appointed Rich Fitzpatrick and Dan Duffy to the committee after interviews and member polling. The board also voted 5-0 to accept the Town Manager’s contract and announced various town-board vacancies and encouragement for residents to apply.
The meeting ended after a round of announcements and recognitions.
