Council reviews veterans memorial plans; donor interest in statue noted

"He wants to adopt that nurse statue," the chair said, describing a donor offer and adding that the American Legion would assist with printing names. Council discussed additional grant avenues (including a pending application that was not accepted) and other potential donors.
A groundbreaking ceremony was scheduled for Oct. 4, and council members noted a concert and fundraising event planned for mid-November. Staff and volunteers will continue to coordinate site work and fundraising; no formal financial commitment beyond accepting donations and in-kind support was recorded in this meeting.
