Director Burnham reported the fund balance at approximately $32,060.21 and outlined anticipated Wetlands Protection Act-related costs: overtime for the principal office assistant (estimated ~$4,400), overtime for the conservation agent (estimated ~$6,700), and office supplies (~$750). She explained that the fund receives about $10,000 in revenue annually and that the clerk position was proposed to be transferred into the department’s operating budget in a future budget cycle because fund balances are declining. For the current year, Burnham recommended using the Wetlands Protection Act fund for these expenses; the commission approved the request by a 4-0-0 vote.
Commissioners noted the need to monitor the fund and to plan for incorporating the clerk position into the department’s operating budget during the next budget cycle if the fund balance continues to decline.
