Council approves claims, a filter repair requisition and routine transactions

The Mount Pleasant City Council approved several routine financial and administrative items at its Sept. 30 meeting, including a claims register, a requisition for filter media replacement at the aquatic center, and transaction registers and minutes.

A council member moved to approve the claims register covering Aug. 23–Sept. 5, 2025. The register was presented in the meeting record with two different amounts: an initial figure of $817,798.73 and later an entry of $817,718.73. The roll-call as recorded: Lynn — Yes; Paul — Yes; Russ — Yes. The motion carried.

On requisition 20250905, staff recommended replacing the sand/media in pool filters; they presented two vendor quotes and recommended Stratford/Strem Landscape Group. The staff presentation included a lower quote of $9,265.60 (staff explained an additional $1,000 equipment surcharge might apply due to access needs) and later in the motion the amount was read as $9,255.50; council members clarified the figures during discussion. A motion to approve the requisition for Stratford/CEM Aquatic for filter repair was made and passed by roll call.

The council also approved a transaction register for Aug. 20–Aug. 31, 2025 for $16,718.49 after a motion by a council member; that motion carried on roll call (Lynn — Yes; Paul — Yes; Russell — Yes). The council approved minutes from Aug. 12 and Aug. 26, 2025 as presented.

Where the meeting record showed differing dollar amounts for the same item, the councilors sought clarification on the floor; the transcript records the differing figures and a staff clarification that a miscommunication led to the higher $21,000 figure in some notes. No legal measures or ordinances were adopted in these votes; the approvals were routine claims, requisitions and minutes.
