Lancaster County commissioners approve wide-ranging grants, contracts including major park and youth awards

The Lancaster County Board of Commissioners on July 14 approved a broad consent agenda that included dozens of grant awards, contract amendments and procurement agreements supporting youth services, behavioral health programs and parks funding.
The approvals included grant contracts such as $336,019.29 to CenterPointe for community support and outpatient therapy, $100,000 to People City Mission for family and women's shelter programming, $35,164 to Matt Talbot Kitchen Outreach for hunger relief and transitional housing, and awards to multiple nonprofit providers supporting diversion, truancy and youth programming. The board also approved larger grants not to exceed $750,000 to the Star City Optimist Youth Foundation, $330,000 to the Lincoln Parks Foundation and $250,000 to the Downtown Lincoln Association to support youth and parks initiatives.
Staff described the awards as routine allocations from county grant funds and outside subgrants. A staff member explained that many programs provide wraparound services, youth programming and diversion support; for example, one presentation said The Bay's offerings include skate school, lessons and a fashion program that is popular with young people.
The board moved, seconded and approved the consent items by roll call. Several items carried with an abstention where a commissioner disclosed a board service conflict prior to the vote.
The meeting also set a public hearing for Tuesday, July 21, 2026 at 9 a.m. in Room 12 of the County-City Building to consider amendments to Article 2 of the Lincoln-Lancaster County air pollution control program regulations and standards.
The board's approvals on July 14 cover a range of county grantmaking and routine contracting that staff said is intended to sustain youth programming, behavioral health services and community supports in Lancaster County.
