Treynor School Board approves back-to-school contracts, open enrollments and facility upgrades

At its Aug. 11 meeting the Treynor Community School District Board approved open-enrollment requests, multiple service and consortium agreements, student handbooks and a $12,284 gym lighting upgrade; all motions passed unanimously.
The Treynor Community School District Board of Directors approved a slate of routine back-to-school items at its regular meeting Aug. 11, including two out-of-district open-enrollment approvals, several intergovernmental and service agreements, and a facilities upgrade.
After returning from a closed session on open-enrollment applications, the board approved two out-of-district enrollments for the 2025–26 school year (motion by Ms. Olson, seconded by Mr. Dreyer). The board also approved the district’s student fees and substitute teacher rates for 2025–26 with no changes.
The board approved a $12,284 bid from ROI Energy to upgrade lighting in the east and west gyms at the middle and high schools (motion by Mr. Stogdill, seconded by Mr. Christensen). The board also approved a suite of regional partnerships and service agreements for the year: a sharing agreement with the GHAEA for SBO services, a memorandum of understanding with Iowa Western Community College for a college-and-career transition counselor, the Southwest Iowa Apex Consortium agreement, a Boys Town service agreement, and a consortium agreement with Children’s Square and Heartland Family Service. All motions passed by unanimous votes recorded as 5–0.
The board approved the elementary and MS/HS student handbooks and the School Board Handbook for the coming school year. On athletic conference business, the board tabled Treynor’s invitation to join the Hawkeye 10 and cast advisory 'yes' votes for Shenandoah CSD’s application and Red Oak CSD’s pre-approval to join the Western Iowa Conference for the 2027–28 school year.
The meeting concluded with routine administrative updates and a reminder about the Nov. 4, 2025, school board election; the candidate filing period runs Aug. 26–Sept. 18.
