Treynor board approves TIF extension, several program agreements and $9,525 transfer for protective gear

The Treynor Community School District Board of Education voted unanimously July 14 to approve a package of agreements and financial actions, including an extension of the district's housing TIF and a transfer of $9,525.51 to the Student Activity Fund for protective athletic gear.
Board members approved a one-year ASPIRE agreement with the Iowa West Foundation for $25,000 for fiscal 2025–26. The vote on that agreement passed 5-0 after a motion by Mr. Dreyer and a second from Mr. Stogdill. The board also approved a student teaching agreement with Buena Vista University for 2025–26 (motion by Ms. Olson, second by Mr. Christensen; vote 5-0) and a School Resource Officer agreement for the 2025–26 school year (motion by Mr. Stogdill, second by Ms. Olson; vote 5-0).
On the Treynor Housing Urban Renewal Area, the board approved a resolution to extend the district's Tax Increment Financing arrangement. The resolution passed on a roll-call vote with all five directors recorded as voting yes. Board members described the extension as a safeguard to support an ongoing residential and recreation project discussed earlier in the meeting.
Separately, the board authorized transferring $9,525.51 from the General Fund to the Student Activity Fund to purchase protective athletic gear. That resolution passed 5-0 on a roll call vote. The actions approving agreements, policies and the transfer were presented as routine business and carried by unanimous votes throughout the meeting.
The board also completed its annual second reading of a series of school board policies related to student rights, records, equity and technology; the policies were approved 5-0. The meeting adjourned following the superintendent's summer facilities update.
