The Greenwood County School District 52 Board of Trustees held an executive session June 9 and, upon return, voted to amend Superintendent Dr. Beth Taylor’s contract and directed the board chair to execute the amendment.
Board Chair Darren Carter moved to go into executive session at 6:40 p.m.; the motion was seconded by London Thomas and carried. The board returned to open session at 7:35 p.m. Jay Reynolds moved to end executive session and London Thomas seconded; the board then voted that the superintendent’s contract be amended as discussed in executive session and that the board chair execute the amendment. The motion carried unanimously. The minutes record the action but do not disclose the amendment’s substantive terms, which were discussed in executive session.
On personnel, Human Resources Director Cathy Anderson presented two recommended hires for the 2026–27 school year. The board approved hiring David Vickery as a music teacher assigned to NSHS/NSES and April Timmerman as EMS’s media center specialist and ELA teacher after a motion by Darren Carter and second by Jay Reynolds. The board also received personnel updates: Josephine Payne resigned from food service; Cortney Crooks was hired to replace Payne; and Juana Moya was hired as a bus driver. Anderson reported two positions remain open: a bus driver and a track coach.
Carter made the motion to amend the superintendent’s contract and Thomas seconded; Carter, Thomas, Eichelberger, Jackson and Reynolds voted in favor. The meeting adjourned at 7:36 p.m.
