Gunnison — The Gunnison City Council on July 7, 2026, adopted Resolution No. 7, Series 2026, finding that an annexation petition filed by Richard Brian McCarroll and Bobette Kay Sylvester for three parcels totaling approximately 14.2 acres is in substantial compliance with Colorado law and setting a public hearing on the annexation for Aug. 25, 2026.
Council said the action is a procedural step in the multi-stage annexation process governed by the Colorado Municipal Annexation Act (C.R.S. 31-12-101 et seq.) and noted the Gunnison Area Plan guides coordinated growth within the city’s planning area. Community Development Director Anton Sinkewich answered Council’s questions about the process; the resolution was introduced by Councilor Schwartz and adopted by unanimous roll call vote.
The resolution does not itself annex the land; it advances the petition to the next procedural step and schedules the public hearing for later consideration.
