Gunnison City Council unanimously approves two restaurant liquor licenses

Gunnison — The Gunnison City Council on July 7, 2026, voted unanimously to grant new Hotel and Restaurant Liquor Licenses to Agave Family Mexican Restaurant, LLC, at 618 W Tomichi Avenue, and to Patcharee’s Kitchen, Inc., dba Patcharee’s Kitchen, at 806 N Main Street.
City Clerk Boucher presented staff reports and noted that required background checks and inspections found no disqualifying issues. Maria Rachesky of Veridical Language Concepts provided interpretation services in English and Spanish during the Agave Family Mexican Restaurant hearing. The applicant for Agave declined to speak; applicant Silvia Veronica Perez Hernandez confirmed to Council that Tacos La Esquina had dissolved and been replaced by Agave Family Restaurant.
At the Patcharee’s Kitchen hearing, applicant David Ashby said he and his partner, Patcharee Ashby, bring years of hospitality experience and described their decision-making process around acquiring a liquor license. Council considered the statutorily required findings, including application dates and inspection results. The Agave application was filed May 29, 2026, and the premises were inspected June 23, 2026. The Patcharee’s application was filed May 26, 2026, and the premises were inspected July 7, 2026.
Council moved and voted on each application separately. For the Agave license, Mayor Pro Tem Ballesteros moved and Councilor Schwartz seconded; roll call votes in favor were Zahradka, Schwartz, Plata, Ballesteros and Ahonen. For Patcharee’s Kitchen, Councilor Ahonen moved and Councilor Zahradka seconded; roll call votes in favor were Schwartz, Plata, Ballesteros, Ahonen and Zahradka. Both motions carried with no votes against.
The council’s approvals followed the City’s and State of Colorado’s liquor-licensing review process, including confirmation that the proposed premises met zoning and safety codes and were not within 500 feet of a principal campus of a college or university. No public comments were made on either application.
The licenses are effective subject to any remaining state-level processing and issuance by the Colorado Liquor Enforcement Division.
