The Economic and Community Development Committee reported it submitted an application to designate a portion of Bedford Heights as an opportunity zone, is preparing an RFQ for the Arco property on Aurora Road and has received county assistance on the city’s master plan. The committee also said the city received a $200,000 supplemental county grant to be used for repairs to Aurora Road.
The finance committee reviewed May 2026 financials and discussed reinstating an investment advisory committee under codified ordinances 129.10 and 129.11. Councilwoman Thomas said the ordinance calls for five members—including two council members, the law director, the mayor (or a designee) and the finance director—meeting every six months; no formal action was taken and a finance committee meeting was scheduled for July 28 at 5:30 p.m.
Chair reports also noted upcoming planning commission and architectural review meetings (July 14) and building and housing staff said they prepared a letter residents can use with insurance companies to explain the city’s long‑standing siding replacement requirement (codified ordinance 1377.07). Councilmembers and staff encouraged resident participation at committee meetings where appropriate.
