In remarks following the confirmation vote, Dr. Gonzalez Reyes said she will "strive to promote safety and the well-being and health of our community" and emphasized representing diverse regions of the city. Several councilmembers praised her clinical and community experience and said they expect that perspective to inform CPS Energy deliberations about rates, infrastructure and public-health intersections.
Dr. Sonia Hasso, named to the Education Commission for District 6, introduced herself from the dais and said she looked forward to working with community partners and city leaders to advance access and dual-credit programming.
Both resolutions were moved, seconded and approved on the record; the clerk administered an oath to Dr. Gonzalez Reyes on the council floor following the vote.
