County engineer reports roadwork progress; board approves $42,464.13 GPS equipment purchase

Adam Miller, Floyd County County Engineer, briefed the Board of Supervisors on ongoing Secondary Roads activities, reporting crews completed bridge repairs, cleanouts, log removal and driveway repairs; shoulder work on B60 began the prior day. Miller said a new flail mower has nearly doubled mowing productivity; new trucks are being received and motor graders are expected within weeks though snow equipment deliveries are delayed. He also noted environmental clearances have arrived for design work, right-of-way acquisition for the Niles Corner bridge is nearly complete, and work continues on a bridge replacement on 170th Street south of Rudd. The Speed Feedback Trailer is collecting data and is currently located on Rotary Park Road.
The board separately approved a Seiler quote for GPS survey equipment totaling $42,464.13; the motion carried 3-0. Miller also said the department is exploring purchase of a new tractor and an additional flail mower and expects a new flatbed trailer shortly.
