Stamping Ground fire department reports grant for pumper truck; mayor signs roof repair contract

Fire Chief Robert Hendricks told the Stamping Ground City Commission on Nov. 25 that the fire department had received a grant to purchase a pumper truck and credited Greg Anderson and local supporters for helping secure the award.

“The Fire Department has received a grant for a pumper truck,” Hendricks reported. He said gutters at the station have been repaired and that a water leak was fixed for under $1,000. Hendricks also said he had spoken with an electrician about installing a generator permanently at the station.

Commissioner Dale Perry asked whether a committee should be formed to manage paperwork and the procurement process for the new truck; the commission declined that proposal. Commissioner Cody Meadows said, given the presence of a chief, assistant chief and fire commissioner, a separate committee was unnecessary. Chief Hendricks said he would like to get the old fire truck stored in the old jail running and would review repair costs; he suggested the truck might be rolled out for photos after the Christmas parade.

Separately, Mayor Jennifer Jones signed a contract with Marshall's to proceed with repairs to the fire station roof, according to the minutes.

The minutes do not list grant amount, vendor contract price or a timeline for delivery of the pumper truck or completion of the roof repairs.
