Town pursues FEMA hazard-mitigation funding and advances wastewater generator grant

Town staff briefed council on two grant-related items that could materially affect infrastructure work.
Staff reported they submitted a pre-application for a federal hazard mitigation program recently reinstated by court action and have been approved to proceed to a full application. "This could be a pot of about $20,000,000 for us," the town manager said, describing work on a pre-application tied to wastewater treatment and regional partners assisting with the full application.
Separately, staff said they are finalizing documents for a DHCB grant to install a natural-gas generator at the wastewater treatment plant. That project is 100% funded with no local match required; when the project goes to bid the resulting contract will be brought to council for approval.
Council thanked staff for pursuing external funding and asked for follow-up on application timelines, consultant roles and any matching or maintenance requirements that might arise after award. Staff said they will return with details as applications progress and when procurement steps require council action.
