At its June 30 meeting the Waukesha City Building & Grounds Committee approved a set of routine traffic and event items after staff presentation and brief discussion.
Signage: The committee approved installation of two “caution autistic child area” signs requested for 1531 Magnolia (one on a light pole, one on a post). Staff said the city has previously erected similar signs and that locations were coordinated with Alderman Piper.
Parking changes: Following a request from Park & Rec and Alderman Dan Mannion, the committee voted to remove the two-hour parking time limit on South Prairie from College Avenue to Sunset Drive while keeping existing no-parking zones in place. Staff said removing the 2-hour restriction costs only the sign changes (about $50 per sign) and that several faded no-parking signs would be replaced as a friendly amendment.
Transit sign: The committee approved a standard restriction sign requested by Metro Transit to require vehicles on Bridal Lane to turn right except Metro Transit buses at Westbound Summit Avenue and Grandview; staff estimated the sign cost at about $125 (materials and installation).
Event premise: The committee approved an extension of premise for Crush Wine Bar to use three parking spaces in Parking Lot 3 during Friday Night Live events; staff said the bar paid fees and police and other staff raised no objection.
Votes and process notes: Each item passed on a voice vote after motions and seconds; staff noted known costs (sign materials for parking/signage) and will proceed with installation and sign replacements. Several items were referred to routine procurement and scheduling; no budget-critical approvals were required beyond staff authorization and standard procurement processes.
