Staff said network switches procured from city IT have long lead times and are estimated at roughly $152,000. To avoid halting construction, staff proposed using the work change directive process for interim approvals and returning with formal change orders.
Commissioners asked to see clearer budget-versus-actual comparisons and requested slides with larger text or a two-page layout that shows alternatives and variances. Staff agreed to provide a more detailed, reader-friendly presentation showing the budgeted amount and projected costs and to return with formal contract amendments for significant items. Staff said manufacturing of some equipment is already underway and Earth-moving could begin once the building permit is issued.
