At its July 14 meeting, the Washington County Board of Supervisors approved homestead, 65+ and military property tax credits and exemptions recommended by County Assessor Christy Tinnes. Tinnes reported 258 new homestead credit applications, 80 homestead 65+ exemption applications, and 31 military exemption applications; after approval the county totals will be 5,580 homestead credits, 1,876 homestead 65+ exemptions and 689 military exemptions. The Board separately approved Disabled Veterans Homestead Credits.
County Recorder Teresa Mangold presented the second-quarter Recorder's report showing $146,913.61 in quarter revenues with the county retaining $54,792.35; her office processed 1,198 recorded documents, 34 marriage applications, 141 passport applications and other routine services. County Auditor Tamera Stewart reported $1,995.00 collected in fees for the quarter (including $1,920.00 real estate transfer fees). Veterans Affairs Director Carrie Rich reported $1,220 distributed in the quarter and $8,370.12 distributed for FY25; two State Trust Fund awards provided home repair assistance.
Outreach Director Joe Williams presented the Outreach quarterly report (116 probationers; 24 successful discharges; 5 unsuccessful discharges; 23 warrants; $3,550 in supervision fees) and proposed renaming the department to 'Washington County Probation Outreach' to clarify that the office is a probation program rather than a general public-assistance office; the Board approved the new name.
The Board acknowledged and authorized the Chair to sign the Recorder's and Auditor's quarterly reports and acknowledged the Veterans and Outreach reports; copies of the reports are available in the Auditor's office.
