That work dovetails with several other construction milestones: roof drains are about 80% complete, interior walls are roughly 75% finished (pending taping and bedding), and the kitchen canopy demo is about 98% complete, according to Ken. He said cleaning crews will begin the next day to prepare classrooms for teachers returning for the school year, and that installation of new egress stairways is scheduled for the final week of construction.
Mary, the project architect introduced by the chair, summarized upcoming permitting and contracting steps, including out-for-bid site and transportation packages and a phasing plan that keeps classes operating while additions are built. She said project documents will undergo a 90% review for third‑party storm‑shelter compliance under the International Building Code before final sign‑off.
Trustees did not take any formal votes on the bond project during this update. The district plans further construction and bidding updates at upcoming meetings as contract GMPs and permit reviews are finalized.
