The Fountain City Council authorized Resolution 26-035 on July 14 to sign a construction contract with C & D Electric for traffic-signal installation and intersection improvements at Jimmy Camp Road and Ohio Avenue.
Public works staff described the project as part of the Moving Fountain Forward list of voter-approved projects and said the procurement produced two bids; C & D Electric was the low, qualified bidder. Staff said the project is under budget, will include span-wire signal hardware, a turn-lane widening on Ohio Avenue and contractor oversight by traffic engineering consultant Wilson & Company.
Staff explained a land-acquisition process delayed the project because one parcel entered probate; that process is complete and construction was due to begin shortly. District 20 will contribute $120,000 of the construction cost; staff said the goal was to complete the work before school starts and that final signal timing would be adjusted when daily school traffic patterns could be observed.
Council voted to approve the resolution; the clerk recorded seven yes votes and the motion carried.
Staff identified next steps: execute the contract, schedule mobilization and coordinate field timing with school schedules and district staff.
