Council grants Dominion Energy easement to serve Wireless Edge cell tower

The council approved a conveyance of an underground utility easement to Virginia Electric and Power Company, doing business as Dominion Energy Virginia, to support electrical infrastructure for the Wireless Edge cell tower on town-owned property.
During a staff briefing, Andrea Broshkovich told the council the easement would allow installation of underground electrical lines, conduit and appurtenances and that the town would not incur a cost for granting the easement. Staff recommended suspending the rules to allow same-night approval because this was the only council meeting in December.
No members of the public spoke against the easement during the hearing, and the council moved to suspend the rule against same-night action and to approve the attached right-of-way agreement and plat for the parcel in question. The mayor was authorized to sign the agreement on behalf of the town.
The action enables Dominion to proceed with connection work required for the wireless facility's operation; staff said a plat showing the easement location was included in the council packet.
