Residents urge enforcement on speeding, truck routing and report hazards; mayor denies private meetings with developers

During the June 10 public comment period multiple Oldmans residents raised safety and transparency concerns and sought action from the Township Committee.
Frank Mongiello, of 167 Pedricktown-Woodstown Road, told the Committee there are missing speed limit signs on Pedricktown‑Woodstown Road and ongoing speeding and unsafe passing; he also reported a juvenile performing wheelies through intersections and asked for increased enforcement and contact with the child’s parents. Mayor Jeffrey Newman said the Sheriff’s Office has increased patrols and that State Police have also been present; he added he would contact Salem County about the missing signs.
Tony Carassi of 37 Clara Drive asked whether Committee members had met privately with warehouse developers in Delaware without public notice. Mayor Newman stated unequivocally that no such meeting occurred. Donna Carassi, also of 37 Clara Drive, asked for an update on redevelopment and recent ordinances; the Mayor said there were no redevelopment meetings or discussions to report.
Skyler Matthews, of 88 North Railroad Avenue, reported roofing nails scattered near the public walking ramp in the town center after stepping on one; Mayor Newman said Township personnel would inspect the area and ensure cleanup. Kenny Manahl, of 57 W. Mill Street, raised ongoing truck traffic through town despite posted restrictions; discussion noted continued Sheriff's enforcement, possible direct notification to trucking companies, and a suggestion to update trucking GPS routing to remove restricted roads.
Public comment was then closed.
