The Sac City Council conducted the first reading of Ordinance No. 2025-340 to add Chapter 162, titled “Urban Chickens,” to the Sac City Code. Council member Tom Lownik introduced the ordinance to permit and regulate keeping domestic chickens within city limits.
Teresa Bruening moved to approve the first reading and Kayla Shull seconded. Roll-call voting showed Ayes from Lownik, Shull and Bruening and recorded absences for Mahler and Murley. The minutes record no public comment or substantive debate during the reading.
Because the minutes record only the first reading, the ordinance has not yet been adopted; additional readings or a future adoption vote would be required under the city's ordinance adoption process.
