Sheriff's office reports 1,060 calls and crash hotspots at Timber Parkway intersections

A sheriff's‑office representative reported to the Callaway Board of Commissioners on July 14 that deputies responded to 1,060 calls for service in June, logged 23,623 patrol miles inside city limits and made 48 arrests. Traffic enforcement totaled 126 stops and 106 citations, the representative said.

The office recorded 23 reported crashes in the city during the month, with clusters at Timber Parkway & 7th Street and Timber Parkway & Highway 22. ‘‘Four of them occurred at the intersection of Timber Parkway and 7th Street,’’ the representative said, noting improper backing, following too closely and careless operation among primary contributing factors.

Commissioners and staff discussed potential fixes, including signal timing and the difficulty of adding a left‑turn lane where ROW and utilities (a pumping station) constrain options. One council member said short east‑west light cycles on 7th create impatience that can lead to risky driving. Staff and commissioners agreed to carry the crash data into long‑range planning discussions with the TPO to evaluate possible multimodal or geometric changes.
