The Roxbury Township Council voted unanimously June 23 to appoint Steve Senese, the township's Director of Public Works, as Acting Township Manager effective June 13, 2026. The council adopted Resolution No. 2026-171, which authorizes Senese to continue his public‑works duties while serving in the interim manager role and provides a prorated stipend of $3,146.00 per month in addition to his 2026 salary as Director of Public Works.
Mayor Shawn Potillo moved the agenda to consider the appointment; Deputy Mayor Mark Crowley made the motion and Councilman Thomas Carey seconded. The roll call vote was 7–0 in favor. After the vote, council members congratulated Senese and expressed support for his new responsibilities.
Acting Manager Senese introduced himself earlier in the meeting and told the council he planned to focus on collaboration, operational efficiency and identifying solutions to save taxpayer dollars while continuing to oversee public‑works operations. The appointment resolution states the position takes effect immediately and references N.J.S.A. 40:69A‑82 et seq. governing the appointment of a township manager.
The council will proceed with its process to select a permanent township manager while Senese serves in the acting role.
