Superintendent Dr. Christopher Prososki told the Hastings Public Schools board on Feb. 12 that the district had received $850,066.28 in 2025-26 state apportionment and is moving forward with preliminary State Aid certification and budget authority for 2026-27.
The report, presented at the work session, included summaries of recent legislative activity provided by national school association briefs and a reminder that the district's American Civics committee must hold its second required meeting; committee members will coordinate with Director Kristen Slechta to set a March meeting date. "We received $850,066.28 in state apportionment for 2025-26," Prososki said while reviewing the district's financial position for the coming year.
Board members discussed the implications for next year's budget and asked questions about timing and assumptions used in preliminary State Aid certification. Prososki emphasized that the figures presented were preliminary and that the district will refine spending authority as final state numbers and certifications become available.
