"I have a river running through my backyard," Meeks said, describing a grate and an outflow that currently lands in a ditch on private property and then winds to a creek. She said she has video of recent heavy rains and that sediment repeatedly fills the trench, undoing earlier work.
Meeks said the previous town manager, Jonathan Glanton, sent staff to dig the channel so it would carry water without filling the banks. She told the council that new dirt and sand keep refilling the trench and that she shovels material away after storms. She asked the town to consider digging the drain deeper or installing concrete piping to ensure long-term flow.
Council members asked clarifying questions about the location and whether the pipe is currently routed to the creek. Meeks responded that the drain appears to end in a yard and then continue through a ditch to the creek; she asked for town action because the drain is a municipal stormwater concern.
The council did not adopt a formal remedy at the meeting; staff acknowledged the complaint and indicated they would review the situation.
Meeks provided a specific location (third house past Love Street on the right) and offered to show video evidence to town staff.
