Gaston Cares schedules Jan. 22 health fair in Ranlo with CVS flu shots and local vendors

Representatives of Gaston Cares told the Ranlo Board of Commissioners that the county-wide rotating community health fair will come to Ranlo on Jan. 22. The event will run from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at a town facility and organizers said they expect roughly 15 vendors, including CVS providing flu shots, county public health, community services, the YMCA, EMS and other health partners.
Organizers said the fair will emphasize services for seniors and families, offer on-site screenings where possible and include information on Medicaid, Medicare and other community supports. Oak Street Health volunteers and other primary-care providers have agreed to participate and organizers said they will distribute flyers to town churches and senior networks to reach residents who are less likely to use social media.
Town staff said they will promote the event on the town website and coordinate logistics with the organizers. The board welcomed the fair and discussed adding the event to the 2026 events calendar.
Organizers asked the board for support in publicity and space access; town staff agreed to follow up after the meeting to finalize details.
