Ranlo officials detail fall festival plans and monthly public-safety reports

Chief Lunschmann (speaker 7) gave the police report: 589 responses in the prior month, 66 citations, seven arrests, multiple overdose calls, suicidal calls, assaults, four DWIs and eight vehicle accidents. He noted that automated-camera systems recorded hundreds of thousands of vehicle passings and said Ranlo will host a countywide 'Faith in Blue' public-safety event in October.
A fire official (speaker 8) said the department handled 58 calls last month, including EMS responses, structure fires, alarms, service calls and hazmat incidents.
Board members raised local safety concerns at a town park after installing speed bumps and privacy plantings: residents said the plantings reduced sight lines to play areas and requested signage or pavement markings to warn drivers. Public-works staff (speaker 9) acknowledged the concern and said paint/signage work is on the agenda as crews schedule projects.
No formal board action was recorded on the festival schedule or chiefs’ reports during the meeting; staff will circulate event schedules and continue planning outreach and logistics for holiday events.
