Perry Park advances Firewise work: grant updates, 911 sign program and 811 registration

District directors spent part of the May 14 meeting on Firewise and public-safety items, including grant coordination, a 911 address signage program and steps needed for a planned fire pond.
Director Keith A. Worley said he submitted an updated FRWRM grant report and met with the Douglas County Office of Emergency Management about defensible-space inspections. He reported the fire pond survey is complete and the District will move into preliminary design; Worley said the District will meet with the engineer in the field and seek potential funding partners.
The Board heard that the 911 address-signage application posted on the District website and an accompanying e-blast produced a strong response. Volunteers have completed many installations but additional logistics are needed; a Larkspur fire volunteer offered to assist residents unable to install signs.
Separately, the Board directed District Management to register the District for the 811 notification system and authorized staff to pay the $150 membership fee, subject to ratification at the next meeting. Directors also discussed ADA guidance for online videos and agreed the Firewise Committee may continue to explore a short informational video while management will distribute requested materials directly to residents rather than posting full video content to avoid accessibility gaps.
