Hughson council reports closed-session rejection of late claim, adopts consent items

The Hughson City Council reported out of closed session and unanimously rejected a late claim application and a claim for damages, City Attorney (speaker 3) told the council. "The council as the reportable action out of that out of the closed session is to reject the late claim application and also reject the claim for, damages," the city attorney said.
After that report, the council considered the consent calendar. A council member asked to pull item 3.7 for questions about downtown street-lighting improvements. Staff said the revised project total is $95,950 and that the original budget was about $87,000; "The changes are listed in the staff report," staff said. Council members confirmed the increase remained within the project contingency.
The council then voted 5-0 to adopt the remaining consent calendar items and later voted 5-0 to adopt item 3.7 as presented. No council member identified a need for city funding for the lighting revision at this time.
The meeting proceeded to the next agenda items. The mayor said two conflicted council members were not present nor did they participate in the closed session; the council's report indicated the vote on the late claim was recorded as unanimous among members present.
