Superintendent outlines administrative restructure; staff report testing schedules and program recognitions

Superintendent Weddle and President Steve Blocher reported on the 2025 Legislative Conference and an administrative restructuring planned for the 2026–27 school year that will configure the elementary school to serve pre-kindergarten through sixth grade and the junior high/high school to serve grades seven through 12. Weddle told the board the change will include adding administrative support staff to assist the transition and that a safety meeting is scheduled for Feb. 12.
During administrative reports, staff members provided program and assessment updates. Mrs. Liermann highlighted the state emphasis on the TIP, CIP and TSI alignment plans and reported that the SPED Indicator 13 transition notice is complete. Mr. Gross presented winter MAPS and DIBELS data and noted literacy coaching updates. District staff reminded the board that NAEP testing for all fourth graders is scheduled for Feb. 11 and that a Kindergarten and Preschool Preview Night will be held on March 10. Student achievements noted included Quiz Bowl, FFA, FCCLA, five girls wrestling state qualifiers and four students selected for the East Husker Conference Honor Band.
Mr. Lewis is scheduled to present high school DIBELS and MAPS testing results at the board’s next meeting.
The board took no revisions to the reviewed policies and moved on to personnel and purchase votes later in the meeting.
