Public commenters raise online harassment of a student and call to restore Zoom access

A public commenter who said she serves on the Foley School District board told the board that a 60-year-old man posted about her son on social media and that the online attacks continued even though the underlying matter had been settled months earlier and a moratorium on new clubs remained in place. She said the posts were harming a 16-year-old student and implored attendees to stop. "This is a 16 year old child that's getting harmed by your friends," the commenter said, and asked board members and the public to refrain from targeting students.
President Morrell and staff reminded the public to keep comments addressed to the board chair and to follow the district's public-comment protocols. Board staff cut off a commenter when a time limit was reached.
Other public commenters included Yushin, who proposed a three-week AI-assisted design summer workshop for students (robotics, AI programming and cloud components) intended to prepare teams for competitions such as the Congressional App Challenge; she said she has supervised student teams in previous contests. Another speaker identified as Kyle Stanford asked why a required high-school curriculum item did not appear on the report card and urged that Zoom access be restored for parents who work. Staff said the report-card question would be investigated and that Zoom-policy questions would be considered separately.
The board closed public comment by motion after the speakers finished.
The meeting record shows no formal board action on the harassment allegation or on Zoom policy; staff said they would follow up on questions about report-card reporting and contract attachments related to program services.
